Our Story
At Poppy's Puppies, our goal is to responsibly breed healthy, well-balanced Labrador puppies with calm temperaments, gentle natures, and the instinctive ability to become loyal, loving companions. We are passionate about raising puppies who thrive as family pets and are especially well-suited to homes with children.
Dogs have been at the heart of our family for decades. We spent over 10 years running of our dog grooming and pet supplies business and have worked professionally in dog grooming for more than 12 years. Informed by training in psychology and expertise in canine behaviour, our unique background means we can carefully assess temperament, support early behavioural development, and raise puppies with a strong foundation for life as confident, well-adjusted companions. In 2024, we welcomed our first litter, who were raised with care, structure, and a strong focus on early socialisation.
Our puppies are raised as part of our family and within our home environment. Being raised indoors allows them to experience everyday household sights, sounds, and routines, supporting early socialisation and helping them transition more smoothly and confidently into their new homes.
The health and wellbeing of our dogs is a top priority. All breeding parents undergo comprehensive DNA testing as part of our ongoing health screening program. Poppy and Earl, the parents of our 2026 litter, have hip and elbow scores that are well below the breed average, significantly reducing the risk of hip or elbow dysplasia in their puppies. These measures allow us to minimise the likelihood of inherited conditions and produce the healthiest puppies possible. We have partnered with Gilderoy Labs who have been breeding Labrador's for more than 25 years and own Earl, the sire to our current litter.
We are a small-scale, micro breeder with one breeding bitch, allowing us to give each dog and litter the individual attention and care they deserve.
